Hi! I'm Trang, a mental health therapist committed to creating a compassionate, inclusive, and culturally informed space for healing.
My journey into this field began over a decade ago when I started volunteering as a sexual assault counselor and advocate. I provided support through crisis hotlines and accompanied survivors during medical exams — a powerful experience that opened my eyes to the resilience of the human spirit and the importance of trauma-informed care.
I often noticed the lack of representation and understanding within the mental health field when it came to the unique challenges faced by Asian Americans and immigrant families, especially with the diversity within the Asian American population and variations in acculturation. This gap inspired me to become the therapist I wish I had seen growing up — one who recognizes the complexity of navigating mental health in the context of culture, identity, and community. Cultural humility is a guiding value in my practice. This means I approach each client with an open mind, willingness to learn, and a deep respect for your unique experiences. I will never be the expert on your lived experience - you are. My role is to listen with curiousity and create a space where you feel seen, respected, and understood.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working in a variety of settings:
Community mental health, providing care to youth and families
Residential programs for teens, providing care to adolescents coping with trauma, behavioral challenges, and emotional dysregulation
Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), working with adults experiencing moderate/severe anxiety, depression, and mood disorders
More recently, I’ve stepped into a new role in my life: motherhood. This deeply personal transformation has sparked a profound passion for supporting others through the perinatal journey — the joys, the grief, the identity shifts, and everything in between. I’m currently working toward my Perinatal Mental Health Certification through Postpartum Support International (PSI) to better serve new parents during this tender and powerful time.
My therapeutic approach is grounded in the belief that healing happens in relationship — with others, and with ourselves. Whether you’re navigating the complexities of cultural identity, parenting, trauma, or major life transitions, I strive to hold space with warmth, humility, and respect.
